Marco Rubio, an American politician, serves as the 72nd US secretary of state. He represented Florida in the Senate from 2011 to 2025.
Rubio was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve during his second term as president. Vice President JD Vance swore in Rubio as secretary of state on Jan. 21, 2025, afterwards he delivered his first remarks as the nation's top diplomat. Rubio traveled to Panama for his first international trip while in the position.

In early February 2025, Rubio wrapped up his first overseas trip across Latin America, securing several key wins on immigration policy.
