Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio, an American politician, serves as the 72nd US secretary of state. He represented Florida in the Senate from 2011 to 2025.

Rubio was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve during his second term as president. "Marco is a Highly Respected Leader, and a very powerful Voice for Freedom," Trump said in a statement in November 2024 after winning the presidential election. "He will be a strong Advocate for our Nation, a true friend to our Allies, and a fearless Warrior who will never back down to our adversaries."

Vice President JD Vance swore in Rubio as secretary of state on Jan. 21, 2025, afterwards he delivered his first remarks as the nation's top diplomat. Rubio traveled to Panama for his first international trip while in the position.

Shortly after being named secretary of state, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, Rubio sounded off on USAID's "rank insubordination" shortly after proclaiming himself head of the embattled agency. In early February 2025, Rubio wrapped up his first overseas trip across Latin America, securing several key wins on immigration policy.
